Title: Paul Van Dyk 5-17-08 Vision, Chicago Post by: noah on May 19, 2008, 09:14:04 AM I'll post more pics later, but I thought you guys might enjoy a shot of his setup. This night was incredible.
So is the module on the right probably another controller? I'm unfamiliar with that mixer - do you think it has some controller elements to it as well? Its a mixer that has all of the above, controller, soundcard, mixer controls, very nice. Cool set up, thankd for the photo.

Evolution UC-33e 2 Axiom 25's And... Matt's right on the 3D :) What's funny is that the 3D costs over 4 times what the other controllers together cost. Title: Re: Paul Van Dyk 5-17-08 Vision, Chicago Post by: Alex W on May 19, 2008, 11:56:47 AM yea. but that 3d is sooo sexy... i wants.
Title: Re: Paul Van Dyk 5-17-08 Vision, Chicago Post by: Dave Richards on May 19, 2008, 12:28:16 PM Why would you sink so much into a controller like that if you're not raking in the money to pay for it as a DJ ;)
Title: Re: Paul Van Dyk 5-17-08 Vision, Chicago Post by: Alex W on May 19, 2008, 01:49:32 PM i never said i was going to buy it... but if someone gave it to me, i wouldnt turn it down.

Title: Re: Paul Van Dyk 5-17-08 Vision, Chicago Post by: Alex W on May 27, 2008, 08:17:02 AM beatmatching is no longer a required skill for djs. im both for and against. every dj needs to know how to beatmatch (i can for the record... hehe) but i dont think they should have to beatmatch. when i first started using traktor i didnt use beatgrids or sync functions, now i barely ever touch the pitch faders. im too busy looking for what i want to use next or playin with stuff (just discovered the beatmasher function.. its shiny)
Title: Re: Paul Van Dyk 5-17-08 Vision, Chicago Post by: Dave Richards on May 27, 2008, 08:29:16 AM It's funny, now that I have traktor, I can actually beatmatch better or at least correct the sync of an off deck better than ever. It's funny how quickly you'll learn to do this if you set your beatgrid wrong on one track :P

Title: Re: Paul Van Dyk 5-17-08 Vision, Chicago Post by: Dave Richards on May 27, 2008, 09:16:20 AM It's a little hard to do that if you don't realize it until your in the mix already and it's the track your mixing out of that has the issue :P
Title: Re: Paul Van Dyk 5-17-08 Vision, Chicago Post by: Alex W on May 27, 2008, 10:11:20 AM that is a good point, but how didnt you notice it whn you were mixing that one in?
Title: Re: Paul Van Dyk 5-17-08 Vision, Chicago Post by: Dave Richards on May 27, 2008, 10:48:02 AM You would think. I said I was better, not perfect.
Title: Re: Paul Van Dyk 5-17-08 Vision, Chicago Post by: Alex W on May 27, 2008, 10:52:35 AM haha. neither am i...
i still have that habit of letting tracks run out while mixing and then forgetting to turn the channel volume down... |
