Title: what to do with a dead website / domain... Post by: Christopher Carl on May 15, 2008, 07:06:01 PM A few years ago, I opened www.jitabeat.com intending to use it as a media publishing company, ie: record label, promotion company, creative outlet for things like radio shows, etc. The only problem is I have hit so many health and financial obstacles in the last two years that all my ideas have not happened. JITAbeat Media Group is nothing right now. I want things to happen with it, but as of now I have no clue about how to get things going.
So...do I keep the site as is? Let the domain expire? Team up with someone who can help me get things rolling? What are your ideas and opinions? Title: Re: what to do with a dead website / domain... Title: Re: what to do with a dead website / domain... Post by: Christopher Carl on May 15, 2008, 07:34:52 PM the thing is, CTF is a product of JITAbeat. JITAbeat would be like the parent company.

Post by: Dave Richards on May 16, 2008, 07:19:39 AM Seriously... just slap a logo on the other and leave it. Years from now... when you have a chance... you'll know what to do with it.
Title: Re: what to do with a dead website / domain... Post by: thepudd on May 16, 2008, 07:22:16 AM Yeah... you can always hold onto the domain. Just in case. Domain's cost dirt.
Title: Re: what to do with a dead website / domain... Post by: Dave Richards on May 16, 2008, 07:29:16 AM Actually, dirt costs less (http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=235384-1321-235384).
Title: Re: what to do with a dead website / domain... Post by: thepudd on May 16, 2008, 07:30:49 AM I stand corrected. Turns out you can have your dirt and eat it too.

Title: Re: what to do with a dead website / domain... Post by: Alex W on May 16, 2008, 11:45:14 AM depends. is it really worth the money to keep it for several years?
look at it this way, if you want it back in a few years, what are the chances of it being taken? Title: Re: what to do with a dead website / domain... Post by: Dave Richards on May 16, 2008, 12:20:36 PM if it's $7-15 a year... it's worth it.
Title: Re: what to do with a dead website / domain... Post by: DWord on May 16, 2008, 01:18:30 PM You could auction your domain.. (Ebay style) but you would need to get it appraised first. A few of the domains i've held have been worth $$.
Type 'domain auction' into google. Hits galore. Title: Re: what to do with a dead website / domain... Post by: Christopher Carl on May 16, 2008, 03:46:43 PM depends. is it really worth the money to keep it for several years? this domain costs me a few bucks a year. No biggie to hang on to it. The chances of it being gone? very likely. There are companies who buy up dead domains just for the sake of upping the price when the owner wants it back. I used to own www.plurave.com. I let it slip, when I went to get it back the cost had gone from a few dollars to a lot more than I cared to renew. Fact is, I do still plan to open a record label as soon as I get my health situation in the clear. and JITAbeat will be the name of it.look at it this way, if you want it back in a few years, what are the chances of it being taken?
