That was pretty much his entire reason for using his DIY skills because (like Batman) he hated guns. I just have one other thing to say about this: Richard Dean Anderson or don't even bother making it. If Harrison Ford can make another Indiana Jones film, then RDA can make a MacGyver film. Oh, it would be great if they brought as much of the original cast as possible. I'd be just as happy if they brought back Angus' old stage-magician friend, Jack Dalton (Bruce McGill). Note that MacGyver used an AK47 in the pilot episode... just not to kill anyone. He also lit and inhaled a few cigarettes, but was noticeably disgusted, lol.
