What about recommendations for a mixer?

How about the pioneer 800? Anyone? Something with at least 6 channels and assignable crossfader?

pioneers are as solid as A&H and rane.  This is silly. :-[

Yeah ive been looking at the Pioneer but i poked around on this board and heard Pioneer was of poor quality, but as i look more and more at that 800 it LOOKS good, anybody have experience with it?

Here is what I know... if you want to talk about an industry standard, then it's the Rane MP24. Pioneer doesn't even come close as they just even came on the scene in the last 7 or 8 years (don't quote me on the time, but they certainly haven't been around nearly as long as Rane or Urei has) Rane MP24's from the 80's are still running strong in some clubs and the output sound quality is far superior to Pioneer, as a matter of fact the Rane MP24 has been in existence since 1986.. longer than any other mixer currently in production. Why do you think that is? Not to mention the power of the headphone driver, sharp eq's, and the fact that they are linear mixers (you bring the mix in and it is exactly where it is supposed to be on the fader, not slurring in the mix as is typical with Pioneers and other lower quality mixers). The Urei rotary mixers were used in the disco clubs in the late 70's and they are still using the same design technics for a lot of them. Anyone that has attempted to replace a fader or dial on a Pioneer can attest to the fact that the quality is flat out cheap, why do you think the faders break so easily and people are replacing them all the time?? You don't hear about these issues with the other brands I mentioned, because they are quality and built to last. Is there any question why Pioneer keeps "upgrading" their mixer? I can answer that, because they STILL haven't gotten it right. I challenge you to find a DJ that has played on all the brands of mixers I listed and have them say any of these are not of superior sound quality, design, and construction than any Pioneer. Like I mentioned, you want the bells and whistles like the flanger, filter, blah blah.. get an external processor, yes the Pioneers come with these effects.. and the quality on the effects is just as poor as the rest of the thing.

I guess what I'm saying is, if you are going to spend the money then do some research and you will find out what is what. Pioneers should go for about $300-400, they are way overpriced in my opinion

Dude, you're not even making sense. I can appreciate your loyalty to a manufacturer because you have an old receiver that still kicks it for you, that's great. Let me put it this way... Radio Shack also makes receivers, DVD player, DJ mixers, and turntables and they have rapport with consumers and have been around for a long time too... are you going to sit here and tell me that the Radio Shack turntable is better than the Technics or their DJ mixer is superior to any of these I mentioned because they have been in existence for years? Of course not, they are a jack of all trades.. as is Pioneer, however I am sure you've heard the expression "Jack of all trades, master of none." This is Pioneer in a nutshell, as previously mentioned they continue to "improve" on their designs but they haven't mastered anything. The brands I mentioned specialize in audio mixers and professional sound equipment. This is a thread on DJ mixers, not home stereo receivers or DVD players. I would like to know if you have played on the other brands I mentioned and what your thoughts were? (no disrespect intended, I honestly would like to know your thoughts)
