Title: Actually.. this might be my next controller! Post by: djvicar on April 07, 2008, 09:16:38 AM http://www.lividinstruments.com/hardware_ohm.php
Includes vj software! its like my trigger finger but nice looking and proper faders! + cross fader! Title: Re: Actually.. this might be my next controller! Post by: Dave Richards on April 07, 2008, 09:25:26 AM Wow... instantly... I'm almost in love. I guess I should read about it first huh?
Title: Re: Actually.. this might be my next controller! Post by: djdunamis on April 07, 2008, 09:25:47 AM hey, very nice find there, thats a nice controller for VJing and DJing.
Title: Re: Actually.. this might be my next controller! Post by: Dave Richards on April 07, 2008, 09:30:40 AM OK... I'd like 3 knobs per slider and 2-4 more sliders per "side". The 36 buttons are NICE, but could use a column for each of the sliders.
This is VERY close to what I'd want for a live set. Title: Re: Actually.. this might be my next controller! Post by: djvicar on April 07, 2008, 09:36:09 AM Me too!
lack of knobs is a slight dissapointment for me too but am prefering this over the vestax 800 like dunamis also tempted by the vj software which is made with ableton in mind! Title: Re: Actually.. this might be my next controller! Post by: Dave Richards on April 07, 2008, 09:40:04 AM Well... I think I have my remote sl 90% mapped to how I want to work in Traktor now. That's good for me I guess :)
Title: Re: Actually.. this might be my next controller! Post by: djvicar on April 07, 2008, 09:43:42 AM Thats is!
U done with ableton then? Title: Re: Actually.. this might be my next controller! Post by: Dave Richards on April 07, 2008, 09:50:18 AM No. I'm moving my production to it. Both for a more loop-based creation system AND for future live shows if I change my mind.
What killed Ableton as a DJ tool for me is the time involved in warping tracks and the fact that it's pretty much impossible to correct a warp if it's off in a live set... while playing that loop. The need pitch bending on each track, not just the over all performance. Title: Re: Actually.. this might be my next controller! The need pitch bending on each track, not just the over all performance. Yes warping still doesnt feel me with joy. But am sticking with ableton for now. It suits my style and not convinced that traktor would give the cross over between djing and producing that suits the same style. Would u still use that kind of controller with traktor though? Seems more suited to ableton Title: Re: Actually.. this might be my next controller! Post by: Dave Richards on April 07, 2008, 12:07:48 PM well... I'm not a scratch dj so the only thing I would get with a traktor controller is a jog wheel for cuing which I can do with a mouse just as easy. So... is that worth paying $250 more? I'm trying to answer that now with the Remote. If the answer is yes, then I'll get the Numark Total Control.
Title: Re: Actually.. this might be my next controller! Post by: djvicar on April 07, 2008, 12:15:06 PM or even cue on the buttons like with cdjs
Title: Re: Actually.. this might be my next controller! Post by: Dave Richards on April 07, 2008, 12:17:26 PM It's got the cuing on there. :) The transport is assigned to the focus deck. I'm using 4 of the velocity pads to select cue points and the other 4 for selecting the length of loops. I've also got 4 eqs per channel like the xone:92 and so on. I'm just missing the jog dial.
Title: Re: Actually.. this might be my next controller! Post by: djvicar on April 07, 2008, 12:21:16 PM as you said yourself - doesnt sound like you need it?
Title: Re: Actually.. this might be my next controller! Post by: Alex W on April 07, 2008, 03:00:50 PM looks cool...
but not 800 bucks cool. Title: Re: Actually.. this might be my next controller! Post by: Dave Richards on April 07, 2008, 03:03:40 PM as you said yourself - doesnt sound like you need it? Yeah... that's why I was configuring it last night. I need some playtime with it b4 I'm sure though. |
