Title: If anyone uses Torq Xponent.... Post by: ecliptik on March 24, 2008, 04:31:44 PM I have a question.... it seems after a while of use, some of the knobs and buttons take control of different things now, and they dont want to do what theyre supposed to do. like the left gain knob now controls the crossfader, and so forth....and another thing, the cue buttons at the top arent working, so I cant really cue my music up like I need to. Any help is well appreciated.
Title: Re: If anyone uses Torq Xponent.... Post by: Dave Richards on March 24, 2008, 06:02:20 PM sounds like a driver issue or... some memory leak. Have you rebooted recently?
Title: Re: If anyone uses Torq Xponent.... Post by: ecliptik on March 24, 2008, 09:04:51 PM actually, I closed the program, turned off the unit cause it runs on AC power... after a few minutes I turned it back on, restarted torq, and it works fine now.....I may need a cooling plate for my xponent......lol IDK, still trying to figure it out. I made a set for DGK's new show for tomorrow....if he decides to play it, you'll hear me using the Xponent....Ive only played with it for a few hours, so glitches will be expected, I think. :-\
Im running it off my mom's Dual Core Pentium 1.6GHZ 1G ram, you figure that would give it enough power....without a video card? .....just barely. Title: Re: If anyone uses Torq Xponent.... Post by: dj_ru on March 26, 2008, 06:41:25 AM I've noticed a couple of times the controls on my xponent have either stopped working or changed what they control. If you click the shift button or midi button by accident this can happen. Not sure if this is the same as what you were talking about though. Sometimes looking in preferences can help.

Title: Re: If anyone uses Torq Xponent.... Post by: Dave Richards on March 26, 2008, 07:43:50 AM oh yeah... that xponent's looking GREAT to me now...
Title: Re: If anyone uses Torq Xponent.... Post by: djrodimus on March 26, 2008, 07:52:09 AM bah... i love mine! 100% happy with the switch. 8)
Title: Re: If anyone uses Torq Xponent.... Post by: Dave Richards on March 26, 2008, 08:15:57 AM It's looking more and more like I won't be switching to anything like that for Traktor. My Novation is working fine. I just need to tweak the controls so it runs only 2 decks rather than 4.
Title: Re: If anyone uses Torq Xponent.... Post by: djvicar on March 26, 2008, 01:44:53 PM Xponet and torq are know to be tempremental but m-audio will get there!
Switching back on and off is usually a good call! Title: Re: If anyone uses Torq Xponent.... Post by: ecliptik on March 26, 2008, 02:30:38 PM Figured it out! I assigned controls hitting the Shift key by accident. Everything works fine....all I need to do now Is invest in my own laptop. :-\
Title: Re: If anyone uses Torq Xponent.... Post by: djvicar on March 27, 2008, 05:59:40 AM Well done!

Everything works fine....all I need to do now Is invest in my own laptop. :-\ Your not alone! I've actually made this mistake too! You just have to hit the prefs. and hit the 'Reset' mappings button (last tab I believe). It causes 0 hiccups even during a set. The Right-Click + Shift combo is extremely useful for remapping buttons on the fly since there's tons of useful functions in Torq. (Remapping F1, F2 deck keys to Quick-scratch 1/2 buttons on xponent to replace drag/drop for example) bah... i love mine! 100% happy with the switch. 8) X2 Xponent lovers unite!!! LOL 8) :) Title: Re: If anyone uses Torq Xponent.... Post by: ecliptik on May 01, 2008, 10:41:05 AM :smiley8:
Title: Re: If anyone uses Torq Xponent.... Post by: ecliptik on May 01, 2008, 10:43:14 AM oh and im soo glad that the autosync feature doesnt work with Drum N Bass... :)
sometimes when it reads tracks more than once, it changes the original bpm by half... Just gives me another reason not to even bother using that function. Besides. I love to beatmatch, manually :) Title: Re: If anyone uses Torq Xponent.... Just gives me another reason not to even bother using that function. Besides. I love to beatmatch, manually :) There's a fix for that!!! 8) If you modify a single value in the TorqEngine.prefs file, BPM detection can improve for paced DnB Look for this setting (around line 26) minBeatDetectionBPM:60 ..increase this value to 70 Try increasing this in 10BPM increments to experiment. (70 works for me and I predominantly mix DnB) You will have to reanalyze your files in order to test this. Try it on one or two and compare the difference. If all else fails you can actually manually edit the BPM tags of your songs (not fun) or... Map a button to double the tempo (fun-er! lol) Title: Re: If anyone uses Torq Xponent.... I love to beatmatch, manually :) In traktor... you just set up a beatgrid by placing a marker on an obviously repetitive spot like a snare hit and you're done. Torq has a beat grid also that you can adjust at any time by pressing Shift + Dragging the mouse over the waveform. Downbeats have a thicker line. I think Ecliptik's issue was the BPM that Torq calculates after initial analysis of your MP3 sometimes is 1/2 actual speed. Computer is just too dumb to know that its super fast (170BPM instead of 85BPM) Title: Re: If anyone uses Torq Xponent.... Post by: djdunamis on May 01, 2008, 08:26:47 PM yeah, Traktor does the same, it detects it at half bpm but I use the bpm functions to give me a roundabout figure of where the tempo is, but mix manually. Also I use the loop function and it does fine under these circumstances.
Title: Re: If anyone uses Torq Xponent.... Post by: ecliptik on May 01, 2008, 10:36:14 PM I guess.......idk......i may give it a shot, just to see what its like, never had that function before....
Title: Re: If anyone uses Torq Xponent.... Post by: Dave Richards on May 02, 2008, 07:30:54 AM no matter what, you want to use some form of beatgriding with any of this software. It frees you up to focus on other aspects of djing.

Post by: ecliptik on May 02, 2008, 04:06:04 PM Ok, wow.....ummm I even tried manually mapping out the bpm, and matching it up to the downbeat, and its still off....coolness!
Maybe Traktor does a better job with DnB, I don't know. Title: Re: If anyone uses Torq Xponent.... Maybe Traktor does a better job with DnB, I don't know. Scratch does, well cause I'm in control, but I'll try it with my midi controller and give you the lowdown. |
