Title: Re: GI Joe Movie - Pictures of Snake Eyes Post by: john.christian on March 21, 2008, 02:03:02 PM Is it still going to be PC Joes? :hurt:
Title: Re: GI Joe Movie - Pictures of Snake Eyes Post by: Dave Richards on March 21, 2008, 03:07:58 PM ugh... don't remind me. I'm still hoping I can convince myself to go. Snake Eyes looks AWESOME.
Title: Re: GI Joe Movie - Pictures of Snake Eyes Post by: Dancechapel on March 21, 2008, 04:06:15 PM Looks sweet! The guy playing Snake Eyes is Ray Park...he played Darth Maul in Star Wars EP 1!
He also played Toad in X-Men Title: Re: GI Joe Movie - Pictures of Snake Eyes Post by: Ekkoh on March 21, 2008, 11:27:38 PM WOAH... how wiKKed!!!
Title: Re: GI Joe Movie - Pictures of Snake Eyes Post by: djdunamis on March 22, 2008, 09:43:46 AM Snake Eyes looks AWESOME. x2 Looks sweet! The guy playing Snake Eyes is Ray Park...he played Darth Maul in Star Wars EP 1! He also played Toad in X-Men yep, pretty good actor for those parts. Title: Re: GI Joe Movie - Pictures of Snake Eyes Post by: john.christian on March 22, 2008, 09:18:09 PM Looks sweet! The guy playing Snake Eyes is Ray Park...he played Darth Maul in Star Wars EP 1! He also played Toad in X-Men Oh, wow! I didn't like Toad at all, but he is a great stunt-actor! I'm trying to remember. Does Snake-Eyes talk at all? Title: Re: GI Joe Movie - Pictures of Snake Eyes Post by: Dave Richards on March 22, 2008, 10:03:30 PM No... which is WHY he'll rock for this part. All he has to do is stand there, keep his mouth shut and do some awesome martial arts.
Snake lost his voice due to grenade shrapnel from Vietnam, if I remember correctly. Title: Re: GI Joe Movie - Pictures of Snake Eyes Post by: Oneel on March 22, 2008, 10:08:21 PM no.
What's next? A Silverhawks movie? Go-Bots? Title: Re: GI Joe Movie - Pictures of Snake Eyes Post by: john.christian on March 22, 2008, 10:16:48 PM No... which is WHY he'll rock for this part. All he has to do is stand there, keep his mouth shut and do some awesome martial arts. That's just the news I wanted to hear. So because of Ray Park being cast as Snake-Eyes, my viewing-of-this-film-probability has just elevated from "No Way" to "If The Opportunity Presents Itself Easily." :) Title: Re: GI Joe Movie - Pictures of Snake Eyes Post by: Dave Richards on March 22, 2008, 10:17:40 PM See!

It was so popular that IMDB doesn't have it listed.
I'm holding out for transo-z myself. Title: Re: GI Joe Movie - Pictures of Snake Eyes Post by: Brandon on March 24, 2008, 08:02:40 AM Snake lost his voice due to grenade shrapnel from Vietnam, if I remember correctly. Helicopter explosion in the Middle East, if memory serves. He caught a face-full of burning fuel. But he did serve in Vietnam though. Side Note: The GI Joe comics were totally awesome. Title: Re: GI Joe Movie - Pictures of Snake Eyes Post by: john.christian on March 24, 2008, 01:43:51 PM Snake lost his voice due to grenade shrapnel from Vietnam, if I remember correctly. Though I've still yet to read them, that's what I'm always hearing. This is where I had heard about it: A great, exclusively G.I. Joe-centered episode by iFanboy. (http://revision3.com/ifanboy/joe/) They review and cover a lot, concerning story and art quality and the publishing history of the G.I. Joe comic book. Title: Re: GI Joe Movie - Pictures of Snake Eyes Post by: Dave Richards on March 24, 2008, 02:28:51 PM Leave it to wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snake-Eyes#Origin) to leave out the exact details, but it was Nam.
Quote Stalker, Storm Shadow and Snake-Eyes served together in the Vietnam War in a LRRP (Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol) unit. While Snake-Eyes served in combat, he always carried a picture of his twin sister with him in his hat, for good luck. On their last sortie they came under heavy fire and Snake-Eyes became separated from the group and wounded. Storm Shadow doubled back and saved Snake-Eyes' life. Upon returning home from the war, Snake-Eyes met with General Hawk (then just a Colonel), who informed him that his family had been killed in a car accident (which coincidentally involved the brother of the man who would eventually become G.I. Joe's arch-foe, Cobra Commander). After some soul-searching, Snake-Eyes went to study the ninja arts with Storm Shadow's family. Snake-Eyes’s ability to quickly learn skills especially impressed Storm Shadow’s uncle, the Hard Master. Over time, Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow became sword brothers, and unintentional rivals for the attention and favor of the Hard Master, who liked pitting them against one another to test their considerable skills. Though Snake-Eyes often attempted to throw matches in order that his friend should save face in front of his family, the Hard Master was aware of Snake-Eyes' ruse, and knew him to be the true victor. also, from the Marvel Comics section... On a mission in the Middle East, Snake-Eyes, Scarlett, Rock 'n Roll and Grunt were sent to save George Strawhacker from COBRA. On the way, the helicopter they were in started to have trouble and was soon going to crash. It forced the Joes to bail out, but Scarlett was stuck in the burning helicopter and Snake-Eyes stayed behind to save his lover. Snake-Eyes saved Scarlett, but a window exploded right in his face, scarring him and damaging his vocal cords (carrying Scarlett out of the wreck of the crashed helicopter, his head is actually on fire). Despite his injuries and the warning from Doc that unless he gets medical help immediately he may never speak again, Snake-Eyes convinced Hawk to let him continue on with the mission. He did so "without even saying a word." (http://On a mission in the Middle East, Snake-Eyes, Scarlett, Rock 'n Roll and Grunt were sent to save George Strawhacker from COBRA. Title: Re: GI Joe Movie - Pictures of Snake Eyes Post by: d-dub on March 24, 2008, 02:38:44 PM while they're at it they should throw in a Care Bears action film or a My little Pony flick.
what¿? Title: Re: GI Joe Movie - Pictures of Snake Eyes Post by: john.christian on March 24, 2008, 02:46:40 PM [...] It honestly may be that comic book multi-verse issue that always ticks me off. Then again, I could just have everything screwed up in my head. Wow, Dave. It's a mystery to me how you can even stand the Terminator franchise, let alone Star Wars. :P At the very least, in the comics they used real guns and not toy guns that only shot harmless laser-flashes. :P :P while they're at it they should throw in a Care Bears action film or a My little Pony flick. what¿? Dragonball (http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=37958) is being made. Title: Re: GI Joe Movie - Pictures of Snake Eyes Post by: Dave Richards on March 24, 2008, 03:05:58 PM terminator's easy... time travel allows for constant rewrites.
star wars... well... as lucas says (and lies about) there's his universe, the licensing universe and then the fan's universe. Oddly, that all makes sense. I just drop off Lucas' universe b/c I can't be bothered with it... just like he says he can't be bothered with the licensing one or the fans ;) Seriously, it's funny to me how many times I've heard him say he has no say in the games or the books and then I find an interview with game developers and authors where they said they hard to get Lucas' approval before they could even start work. Just watch the "new beginnings" video for the Force Unleashed (http://www.lucasarts.com/games/theforceunleashed#/documentaries/). Title: Re: GI Joe Movie - Pictures of Snake Eyes Post by: john.christian on March 24, 2008, 04:42:20 PM terminator's easy... time travel allows for constant rewrites. [...] Yet when a Comic Book Publisher, itself uses a plot-device* to retcon or "re-write" continuity--you're ticked off? ??? *eg. DC's use of a Multiversal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multiverse) collapse in the groundbreaking "Crisis On Infinite Earths (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crisis_on_infinite_earths)". and Marvel's use of "reality-warping abilities" in "House of M (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_of_m)" or "a deal with the devil" in the atrocious "Spider-Man: One More Day (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spider-Man:_One_More_Day)". Whether you find such plot-devices distasteful or not, please don't hold all Graphic Literature accountable for the actions of "The Big Two." There are a dozen other Comic Book Publishers and countless other Comic Book Creators that don't commonly use such devices. If you don't like "mainstream comics", you could read Image (http://www.imagecomics.com/) (creator-owned/independent), IDW (http://www.idwpublishing.com/) (current licensed publisher of Transformers), Dark Horse (http://www.darkhorse.com/) (current licensed publisher of Star Wars), or Dynamite (http://www.dynamiteentertainment.com/) (licensed publisher of Terminator 2**), just to name a few. **They publish other Terminator stories too, but they only have the license to publish there books with the title "Terminator 2." That's copyright for ya. :\ Title: Re: GI Joe Movie - Pictures of Snake Eyes Post by: Dancechapel on March 25, 2008, 06:53:45 AM It's not even a comic book thing, it's an 80's cartoon thing.
Do you know how many different versions of Transformers there are just in the cartoons that have been made? There's a few versions of GI Joe as well, in fact the most recent one was just on Fox Kids in the mornings last year. I'm sure the movie will offer a new remix to the history as well ;) Title: Re: GI Joe Movie - Pictures of Snake Eyes Post by: Dave Richards on March 25, 2008, 07:27:48 AM Well... we had the original with the 80's cartoon. All GI Joes prior to that were nameless action figures.
Title: Re: GI Joe Movie - Pictures of Snake Eyes Post by: Brandon on March 25, 2008, 08:06:17 AM I think the most confusing thing is that when they told Snake-Eyes original origin story they never had him speak a single word, even though he could before the helicopter accident. On his recon patrols in Vietnam he was already using a bow and arrow just because it was quieter.
Title: Re: GI Joe Movie - Pictures of Snake Eyes Post by: Dave Richards on March 25, 2008, 08:32:31 AM Did they EVER show him speaking??? Seriously.
Title: Re: GI Joe Movie - Pictures of Snake Eyes Post by: john.christian on March 25, 2008, 11:28:21 AM Perhaps it just wasn't in the budget to hire a new voice-actor or pay an already hired one extra. :\
It's not even a comic book thing, it's an 80's cartoon thing. [...] Shoot. The Autobots could fly in the first episode. Title: Re: GI Joe Movie - Pictures of Snake Eyes Post by: Dancechapel on March 25, 2008, 01:15:52 PM true!

Title: Re: GI Joe Movie - Pictures of Snake Eyes Post by: Dave Richards on March 30, 2008, 07:13:10 PM Interesting...
Doctor Who as Destro... (http://imdb.com/name/nm0001172/) Imhotep as Zartan (http://imdb.com/name/nm0903677/) Marlon Wayans as Ripcord (http://imdb.com/name/nm0005541/) The cast alone is making it look good. At least they cast a "US President" too. Maybe... just maybe... GI Joe will still be an american hero. Just seems not to fit the role, course haven't seen any of his latest either. Course Ray Park as Snake Eyes, which is good pick.
