Post by: Just Drew on March 10, 2008, 05:34:45 PM
Found this on Andy's BookFace....

Quote
'Colour' hits the store shelves on March 18th (if you hangout at the local Bible bookstore) and April 8th (if you hit HMV or some other music store for your tunes) ... if your are looking for the iTunes release you'll have to wait until at least March 18th for those.

the two samples they give sound seriously mellow. I hope there's some floor fillers there.

what i hear from andy is that its an artist album not a club album, so there may not be chris but there will be remixes geared towards the clubs according to him.

it is definatly not a DJ oriented album. the stars remix should be intense though.

yeah, that was said in the main thread or one of their videos.  He's exploring more as an artist.

I tried all the Christian Bookstores in town, they aren't carrying it, and they all told me the release date had been pushed back to April.

I tried explaining that the Nettwerk release was in April, but the Sparrow release to Christian bookstores was today, but it was like talking to a brick wall.

man, thats bad Carey, I got it today.  I'll be able to tell more later, but I like a lot of tracks but of course nothing like Exodus, but as an artist it was good.

take it Doug dislikes it?

I agree. One release date is all that is needed. Unless the nettwerk version will have some remixes. That would be cool.

I'm sure hoping it will have remixes.

The person who serviced radio last time, Andrea Kleid, is not with EMI/Sparrow presently, so  I haven't had any contact about the album.

Mike Couchman hasn't heard a peep either, and the CCM labels really take care of his station, as they get a lot of sales in the Grand Rapids market.  He usually gets everything and anything coming out, and got the Plumb Remixes months before they released.

Where did you get yours?

I previewed the tracks online, so I know what to expect.  It's not geared towards DJs, but I still like what I heard enough to buy it.  Enough to try all the Gift & Bibles in town, all the Family Bookstores in town, and a few of the regular music stores.

All the Christian Bookstores let me know that "it doesn't release until April" and that they would not be carrying it, but that they could order one for me.  I said no thanks, I'd like to be able to just pick one up off the shelf and buy it, otherwise I might as well order online.

I've been waiting to see it on itunes the last couple of days, but it's not up there yet.  Seems like they've had a bit of a dropped ball on communicating the release well on this project.  Bummer ....

Oh well, I'll still be picking it up as soon as I can.

Andy posted this on my myspace:

the full release is on the 8th April, 18th was for the christian market. I imagine you will have to order through the christian outlets because there isn't much marketing in that world being that I am solo with nettwerk now.
Hope you well, andy

I picked it up the other night. We have 3 christian bookstores in town and only one had it.

It's a great album. As mentioned in an earlier post, It is a more "melow" album overall but track 1 "Sound Polution" is a great club song that tears it up right of the gates and is my favorite song for that reason and is in line with the other albums that we are familiar with. Technicolour, & Out Of Control & You are also uptempo dance tracks.

I think Andy did a great job and I like the new direction he has taken as an artist. This album has everything I like about EDM. Fast, slow, familiar and new.

What does everyone else think that has heard it?

Just picked up the Nettwerk version release of the CD today from Barnes & Noble.

No remixes, but I just got serviced with those today so I finally got Andy's new tunes!

I just finished writing a stellar review of this. I was seriously impressed by the quality of work on the album and after quickly comparing it to his previous solo work, I have to shudder to think that I ever listened to it.

I know i'm not perfect, but these are my views on the album...

i got the album at last... i'm not impressed. they sound like DBA/WWMT tracks: cheesy.

I'm listening to it now...

i like the epic intro to sound pollution and Technicolour is ok, apart from the 80's breakdown.

And the chord progressions are basic to say the least, some even sound the same from previous work he's done on albums 1 & 2.

And gated guitar?! try something new! i swear using volume gates like this was out a long time ago...

it all sounds a bit sample CDish - you know?

Oh, hark! another volume gate!

lets hope it grows on me, otherwise i might be selling it on Ebay soon!

Technicolour gets regular "spins" on choon.  ;)

Seriously, I kinda agree with your review. Although I really enjoyed it.
