Ginger Shinobi was born in 2007 when after years in the musical doldrums a welsh man discovered dubstep (4 years too late). The harsh bass and the (now boring) wobble put a fire up him that has led Ginger Shinobi to the new sounds of Moombahton.
How long have you been a member of Tastyfresh?
Well since about 1999 I think, but I had a break for a few years, I still read the site about once a week and I log in whenever I see something I want to respond too.
What first intrigued you about it?
There is no doubt in my mind, I was amazed that there were other Christian DJs, I was a really new Christian back then, and struggled with playing nightclub music for a living (I think I was doing it for a living when I found this place). The Tastyfresh I found really helped form me as a Christian and as a Christian who is a DJ. I am still in contact with lots of the people I met on Tastyfresh back then, some of them I consider my best friends.
What have you learned from the site?
I am not going to answer that, because I think what has actually happened is that this site raised some interesting questions in my mind, and God led me on various journeys of discovery from that point. Without the discussion I had and the relationships I built on Tastyfresh around 2000-2002 I wouldn’t be the same person I am now and I doubt I would still be DJing.
Where do you see the site going in the next few years?
I hope the site finds an identity which it seems to have lost. I remember Tastyfresh being a site you checked 4-5 times a day, but now we all use our favourite social networking site for that. Tasty needs to find an identity in the post Myspace world.
